My good friend Grant Starrett is getting into the race for Congress in Tennessee against Congressman Rep. Scott DesJarlais, and I strongly endorse him for the seat.
I first met Grant when he was in law school working for Senator Jim DeMint, and I’ve subsequently gotten to know him at various conservative conferences and also in Atlanta and Nashville. Here’s what I know: Grant is a man of character and conviction. He is a constitutional conservative of the highest order, and would be an outstanding member of the Freedom Caucus with conservatives like Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) if he were elected. He’s young guy, but a long-time conservative activist and I know he’ll do great in Congress.
The incumbent, Congressman Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN), tried to get on of his mistresses to have an abortion. Yes, you read that right. We’re talking mistresses, not wife. And he was fined by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners for having sex with his patients. Seriously.
So now DesJarlais is trying to convince people he is a conservative to get Republicans to vote for him. I can assure you that Rep. Scott DesJarlais is no conservative. When he got to Congress he inexplicably voted against spending cut after spending cut. DesJarlais is no conservative. He’s simply pretending to be one just to get himself re-elected. I’ve seen this move before from people likeSen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT). Tennessee can do much better.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting Grant Starrett. Find out more at GrantForTN.com.
