(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) - Today, Grant Starrett released the following statement on the Obama administration's nuclear concession to Iran:
"The Obama administration has in the past bragged about "leading from behind" - I just wish that that didn't mean that Iran was out front. Now President Obama tells us that "we give up nothing by testing" out his deal. That is flat wrong.
Iran will get immediate sanction relief to the tune of tens of billions of dollars. Let's not forget that the threat of Iran does not merely come from its nuclear program - Iran remains a state sponsor of terror, including against American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
There's a reason why Israelis across the political spectrum are calling for the rejection of this deal - while Iranians and Russians are celebrating it. Anyone familiar with the Clinton North Korean experience should be extremely skeptical of totalitarian regimes committing themselves to nuclear agreements.
President Obama and Secretary Kerry have pursued this deal as a means to ensure their legacy, but now it is up to Congress to ensure the safety and security of the American people. Congress cannot roll over and allow President Obama to impose a treaty on the United States with less than 2/3 support of the U.S. Senate."
