(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – The Grant Starrett for Congress campaign released the following statement:

Grant Starrett, Republican Candidate for Congress in Tennessee's 4th Congressional District

"I want to thank the tens of thousands of Tennesseans across the 4th District who supported me in this race.

"We waged a vigorous campaign of ideas about the future of this country: talking about reforming welfare, rebuilding our military, and fighting for life. We waged this campaign across more than 130,000 doors in the 4th District, with personal outreach being the hallmark of our true grassroots effort.

"We spoke with tens of thousands of our friends and neighbors face to face at their doorsteps and in their living rooms over the course of this campaign, and I'm grateful for their prayers, support, and vote of confidence to be their next Congressman. While it was not enough, I'm proud of our campaign, and I'm incredibly grateful for everyone involved.

"I just called to congratulate Congressman DesJarlais, and I wish him the best in his work as a Representative for our district."

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – The Grant Starrett for Congress campaign today announced that one of the most influential Evangelical Christian leaders in America, Dr. James Dobson, has endorsed Grant in his race for Congress in Tennessee's 4th Congressional District.

In his endorsement, Dr. Dobson said:

"It is my pleasure to be among the many conservatives who are supporting Grant Starrett for United States House of Representatives for Tennessee's 4th Congressional District.

"I became acquainted with Grant through his conservative activism and his commitment to family values. His dedication is evident, from having founded the Conservative Society at Stanford to working for Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC).

"For years, I've prayed for leaders who will help America return to its Judeo-Christian foundation. Grant is a key part of the next generation of conservative leaders who will protect life from conception and uphold our values.

"Simply put: in the 4th Congressional District of Tennessee, Grant is the best man for the job.

"Speaking as a private individual and not on behalf of the organization I represent, I am pleased to endorse Grant Starrett for U.S. Congress"

"I'm honored to receive the endorsement of James Dobson, one of the most influential Christian leaders in America. With the prayers and support of conservatives like James Dobson and voters across the 4th District, I'll fight the madness in Washington and restore Constitutional order."

Grant Starrett For Congress Knocks On 100,000 Doors

The Grant Starrett for Congress campaign today announced they have knocked on more than 100,000 doors over the course of this year in the 4th Congressional District Republican primary.

Statement from Grant Starrett, Republican Candidate for U.S. Congress in Tennessee's 4th District:

"My team and I have surpassed an incredible milestone: 100,000 doors knocked in 2016. I want to thank the voters in each of the 16 counties across the district for sharing time with us at your doorstep or in your living room. Our grassroots team has had tens of thousands of meaningful conversations with voters, where we've shared my faithful conservative vision and listened to the concerns about DesJarlais' record in Washington. I've committed to making this campaign about personal outreach and every single day, voters are committing to vote for better representation for the 4th District. We look forward to thousands more meaningful conversations before Election Day on August 4."

Mark Levin Endorses Grant Starrett

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – Last night, Mark Levin endorsed Grant Starrett on his live, nationally-syndicated broadcast. Mark Levin is one of the most influential conservative talk radio hosts in the country and can be heard each evening across the entire 4th Congressional District.

In the interview with Grant Starrett, Levin said "I want to endorse you, strongly. I think you'd make an outstanding Constitutional conservative in the House of Representatives"and "wouldn't it be spectacular to get some new fresh young blood in there, another Constitutional conservative who will give 'em hell?"

Levin had choice words about Grant's opponent: "Scott DesJarlais, the fact of the matter is he's utterly and completely useless. He's definitely a sell out, he's definitely a creature of Washington now."

Full audio of the interview can be found here:

Statement from Grant Starrett, Republican Candidate for Congress in Tennessee's 4th Congressional District:

"I'm incredibly honored to have the endorsement of one of the most influential grassroots conservatives in the country: Mark Levin. As it says on his program, he's "the establishment's worst nightmare" and for good reason--he's fought for Constitutional conservative principles time and again. As one of the top-5 talk radio shows in the country, he commands a grassroots army that is now fully behind my campaign for Congress. I plan on fighting for conservative principles every day in Washington, as I've fought for them my entire life--even when it wasn't popular. I'm glad to stand shoulder to shoulder with Levin in this fight to save our country as we've been taken over by politically correct cowards. Under the Obama disaster, we're going easy on radical Muslims, financing abortionists, and paying people not to work. I've been praying for America, but the time has come to fight for what we believe. I'm proud to have Mark Levin join the fight!"

Scott DesJarlais Spends More Taxpayer Dollars Than Any Other Republican Member of Congress in Q1 2016

More than quadruple the amount of all other 8 TN Congressmencombined; 2nd of all voting Members of Congress, only trailing a Democrat defeated in an April election, indicted and standing trial on 29 racketeering charges

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – An investigation by the Knoxville News Sentinel just posted, detailing how Scott DesJarlais spent more money on taxpayer-funded communications than any other Republican Member of Congress in the country for the first quarter of 2016, totaling nearly $67,000. Compared to the same time period in 2015, he spent a fraction of that amount--$5,600.

Also, astonishingly, DesJarlais spent more than every other member of Congress from the State of Tennessee combined during Q1 2016. In fact, DesJarlais spent more than quadruple the amount of all other Tennessee Members combined

In an abuse of power, ever since Grant Starrett entered the race, Scott DesJarlais has dramatically increased his taxpayer-funded spending. Ironically, DesJarlais is spending the taxpayer's money to defend his votes to misspend taxpayer money on things like $700 billion in Food Stamps.

Read the article here:
"Scott DesJarlais, In Re-Election Battle, Ramps Up Spending On Taxpayer-Funded Communications"

DesJarlais comes in 2nd of all voting Members of Congress only to Democrat Chaka Fattah of Pennsylvania, who is at the moment of this writing standing in a federal courthouse trial for 29 racketeering charges including "a wide-ranging conspiracy involving bribery, concealment of unlawful campaign contributions and theft of charitable and federal funds to advance their own personal interests" according to the Assistant Attorney General. Fattah was also defeated last month in his Democratic primary.

Here are the Mass Communications disbursements with taxpayer dollars for TN Members of Congress from January 1 - March 31, 2016:

1. Scott DesJarlais - $66,639.50
2. Diane Black $5,432.80
3. Steve Cohen $2,890.96
4. Phil Roe $2,743.90
5. Marsha Blackburn $2,600.00
6. Chuck Fleischmann $2,021
7. Jimmy Duncan $0
8. Jim Cooper $0
9. Stephen Fincher $0

Statement from Tommy Schultz, Campaign Manager for Grant Starrett for Congress:

"In an abuse of power, Scott DesJarlais is clearly spending Tennesseans' hard-earned taxdollars to fund his re-election campaign, plain and simple. No other Tennessee member, Republican or Democrat, is spending taxpayer dollars like DesJarlais is. DesJarlais is scared that Grant Starrett's campaign is knocking on thousands of doors each day, exposing DesJarlais' bad votes in DC from the past six years. So now DesJarlais is pumping our taxdollars into a re-election campaign. DesJarlais spent more than every single other Republican Member of Congress and was only beat out by 2 Democrats -- one named Chaka Fattah from Pennsylvania who is on trial for racketeering charges for using federal tax dollars inappropriately, and the other is Pedro Pierluisi, the non-voting commissioner from Puerto Rico. DesJarlais has clearly abused the power and responsibility of the people's seat, a common sickness that grows on too many of the political class in DC."

DesJarlais Three Times Refuses To Define When Life Begins

After twice refusing to "define when life begins" at a candidate forum moderated by Joe Carr, DesJarlais tells Murfreesboro Post: "As far as when life begins, I don't know that I have the answer."

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – In glaring defiance of core Christian beliefs, the grassroots Republican party platform, and biological research, Scott DesJarlais has refused for now the thirdtime to define when life begins. Scott DesJarlais just recently told Sam Stockard of The Murfreesboro Post, "As far as when life begins, I don't know that I have the answer. So I don't know if that's a sidestep. I don't really know."

Previously, DesJarlais twice refused to define life and when it begins at a candidate forum moderated by Joe Carr at the Warren County GOP Reagan Day Dinner. The interaction wascaught on video and it has been viewed by Tennesseans more than 13,000 times on Facebook.

DesJarlais was asked by Carr to define when life begins, and The Southern Standard newspaper stated DesJarlais was "side-stepping Carr's direct question about when life begins." When Carr followed up, and re-asked the same question, DesJarlais again dodged. Only a few weeks later, in an interview about that candidate forum and his answer on the beginning of life, DesJarlais told The Post, "I don't know." The full article from The Murfreesboro Post can be found here.

As The Murfreesboro Post reported further:

"Asked the same question by Carr, Starrett says, "I believe that life begins at conception,"and he goes on to say he agrees with the RNC platform to protect life from conception until birth and beyond.

Questioned further about how he would protect life if elected, Starrett says, "Number one, we need to defund Planned Parenthood with regard to the federal government's spending."

He continues, saying a voter recently told him she doesn't understand his position on Planned Parenthood because it is "a right." He says he argued, "if it is a right, why doesn't the government pay for my Glock? Why doesn't the government pay for my gun? It's absolutely crazy that your tax dollars go to finance abortions with regard to Planned Parenthood. And we need to do everything we possibly can to ensure it doesn't happen in the future."

Also, last fall, DesJarlais failed to hold the nation's largest abortion provider accountable, and it still continues to receive millions of dollars from the federal government.

When Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, was caught in a scandal for selling dead baby body parts, its CEO was brought before Congress to testify to the House Oversight Committee. Scott DesJarlais is a member of that committee, and when given the opportunity to ask a question of Planned Parenthood's CEO in sworn testimony, DesJarlais passed the microphone. He said "Thank you Mr. Chairman. And I would like to yield to the gentleman from Arizona."

"The unborn were left voiceless, and I along with nearly every other Tennessean in the 4th District was left speechless when DesJarlais refused to define life or grill Planned Parenthood's CEO," said Grant Starrett, a Republican candidate for Congress challenging Scott DesJarlais. "I'm running as a faithful conservative to protect the unborn and end taxpayer funding for abortions. I want to bring my Christian principles to D.C. where they are sorely needed."

Grant Starrett For Congress Reports $917,000 Raised In 2015

Faithful Conservative Continues Momentum For 2016 Primary

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) – The Grant Starrett for Congress campaign today announced they will report raising more than $917,000 last year. The campaign to elect a faithful conservative like Grant continues to gain momentum for one of the most-watched primary races in the country for 2016.

Statement from Tommy Schultz, Campaign Manager for Grant Starrett for Congress:

"Raising more than $900,000 in nine months shows that conservatives continue to rally behind Grant Starrett's visionary campaign for Congress. Tennesseans are looking for a faithful conservative like Grant who will go to Washington and fight for our country's future. For years, DC politicians who say one thing, then do another, have put our country into a grave circumstance
like when Scott DesJarlais voted for $700 billion in Food Stamps or against spending cuts to Obama's wasteful green energy programs like Solyndrawhere we are now facing a financial, moral, and constitutional crisis. We need a new generation, with conservatives like Grant Starrett, to fight to get this country away from small dreams and socialism."

Statement from Grant Starrett on the State of the Union

The Grant Starrett for Congress campaign tonight released the following statement in response to President Obama's State of the Union address.

Statement from Grant Starrett, Republican Candidate for Congress in Tennessee's 4th District:

"There were plenty of better ways to spend this evening than tuning into the State of the Union, and most Americans probably did them. The President did not say much interesting nor did he say anything about the 10 sailors captured by Iran this afternoon—though his press secretary bizarrely used the opportunity to highlight the Iranian nuclear deal. Obama did proclaim the bold non sequitur that Food Stamps did not cause the financial crisis, ignoring the fact that we're racking up $700 billion in debt to pay for a program that discourages work and family formation. I hope to earn the support of voters to join a Republican majority in Congress and a Republican President delivering a State of the Union announcing the reversal of the Obama agenda and placing our country on a path to prosperity and security."

Grant Starrett For Congress Accepts Bitcoin Donations

Campaign will also hold Bitcoin donations, breaking from typical campaigns

Today, the Grant Starrett for Congress campaign announced that it is now accepting and holding Bitcoin donations. While some campaigns have accepted Bitcoin, like the campaigns for Senator Rand Paul and Governor Greg Abbott, nearly all have immediately converted the donations into U.S. dollars. Grant will be embarking into new territory to hold Bitcoin as Bitcoin in the long term.

The link to donate with Bitcoin to Grant Starrett is

"Bitcoin offers novel advantages over existing currencies and payment methods, and it should not be regulated to an extent more onerous than other recognized currencies," said Grant Starrett, Republican candidate for Congress in Tennessee's 4th Congressional District. "Its decentralized nature allows for innovation and new ideas to come from any participant, which can be democratically embraced by the entire community. I hope that Bitcoin will help to disrupt and cripple the onerous capital controls put into place by manipulative and tyrannical governments like China."
