Today, we remember Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States and a towering figure in the history of the Republican Party, the United States, and the free world on the 11th anniversary of his passing, June 5, 2004.
President Reagan was a man of great faith who had an unwavering devotion to the ideals of the Founding Fathers. His commonsense conservatism and dedication to the prosperity and security of the United States still serves today as a blueprint for Republicans. He brought about morning again in America and was instrumental in bringing about the end of Communism in Europe.
With his optimism and moral clarity, Ronald Reagan was a great champion of freedom. He knew how essential it was that those who would enjoy its blessings be willing and prepared to defend it.
As a candidate for Tennessee's 4th Congressional District seat during these difficult times when Big Government has become such an impediment to freedom and opportunity, I'm determined to follow Ronald Reagan's example and do my best to heed his words of wisdom:
